FRENCH POLYNESIA

In 1600s France, during a long court case the advocates of the state’s postal monopoly produced as evidence a forged 1464 King Louis XI ordinance that established the post horse in that country. The forged document was centuries later closely examined and exposed for what it was. Nevertheless, there are still some writers who cite the fabricated ordinance as if it were authentic.
