Grenada’s first stamps were issued in 1861. They depicted the famous Chalon portrait engraved by C. Jeens. The Colony was granted Associated Statehood and this was mirrored in a 1967 set of 15 ad-hoc overprinted values. Similarly a set of 14 overprinted stamps issued in 1974 saluted the new island nation Independence.
