GUYANA
Formerly known as BRITISH GUIANA, the Colony issued its first stamps in 1850. It became independent in 1966 when the name change to GUYANA took place. This is reflected in the overprints used at the time to salute the historic development. British Guiana boasts the world’s highest priced stamp, the One Cent magenta of 1856, of which only one copy exists.
