LUXEMBOURG

On 15 September 1852, Luxembourg issued its first two stamps: a 10 centimes in Belgian currency and a 1 Silver Groschen in Prussian currency. Later stamps were issued only in Belgian currency. The first stamps depicted William III, son of King William II of the Netherlands. The watermark – a W” – was a clear reference to the Grand Duke. When he died in 1890
