CHINA

The philately of China begins in 1878 when the famous Large Dragons” stamps were issued. These were followed in 1885 by definitive stamps known as “Small Dragons”. Nine years later China ended the 19th Century with a long series honoring the 60th Birthday of the Empress Dowager. The early issues are very popular with collectors and specialists as are the modern stamps of the People’s Republic of China. The number of Chinese collectors has increased exponentially and so have the prices of Chinese stamps.”
