* BUYER IS WARNED NOT TO ATTEMPT TO OPEN THIS LETTER AS IT HAS A TEAR ON ONE SIDE SEALED WITH GLUE – any attempt to open each page WILL DAMAGE THE DOCUMENT which IS OTHERWISE IN FINE CONDITION ~~~~~~~~ Sent by JOH. THEODOR SCHNAASE at Danzig on 27 March 1765 * SINGLE SATE 30 Sous tariff — French ENTRY handstamp “D’HOLLANDE” above average strike – most likely this letter was carried with other merchants letters sent to a Forwarding Agent – using BOTENSCHAFTEN VIA HAMBURG where several such services and intermediaries were amalgamated in 1821 to form the STADTPOST – at AMSTERDAM another FORWARDING AGENT PLACED THE LETTER IN THE POST OFFICE MAIL STREAM.
