1931 – ETHIOPIA, Michel Postcard, depicting IYASU V, (grandson of Emperor Menelik) designated but uncrowned Emperor of Ethiopia. The $5 stamp affixed cote-vue depicts Empress Zauditu (Menelik’s eldest daughter). Following a series of strokes that incapacitated Menelik, his wife Empress Taitu and her step-daughter Zauditu engaged in endless intrigues and plots risulting in the latter becoming Empress in 1916. After Zauditu’s death in 1930, Ras Tafari was crowned Emperor Haile Selassie.
