On 30 November 2013, Italy issued a 0.70 euro stamp depicting a major Italian landmark, the Mole Antonelliana — a towering stone building in Turin,Italy. The city symbol is named after the architect who created it, Alessandro Antonelli. A mole is a building of grandiose architecture. The 550-feet tall construction started in 1863 as a synagogue. In1878, due to early disagreements with the architect and unforeseen high costs incurred, new arrangements were made for the Jewish community to have their synagogue elsewhere and the building was purchased by the municipality and later re arranged to house a museum celebrating the Risorgimento (the reunification era of Italy). Since 2000 the Antonelliana is housing the National Cinema Museum.
