Description
ENTIRE LETTER (in Italian) FROM GENOA TO BAGNI SAN GIULIANO (PISA) – 4 July 1789 – from nobleman DOMENICO SERRA to another Genoese nobleman having a vacation on the Tuscany coast – VERY INTERESTING TEXT — besides informing the addressee that his “wife had a very painful day because of hemorroids” he discloses that at a meeting with a one of Genoa’s most powerful persons a courier had arrived from Paris giving the news of the re-appointment of JACQUES NECKER as Finance Minister, for which both the King and Queen of France were overwhelmingly cheered by the populace in the streets of Paris. People saw Necker as the savior of France while the country stood on the brink of total bankruptcy, however his actions could not prevent the French Revolution. Necker set to work to arrange for the summons of the Estates-General of 1789. *** The letter has an equisite red wax seal in pristine condition featuring the Serras coat of Arms. *** Postage was paid by the addressee as per postal rate handwritten on lower left corner over “BAGNI DI S. GIULIANO” — ABSOLUTELY AMAZING & CHARMING ITEM with historical content — IN VERY FINE CONDITION
