TURIN HERO PIETRO MICCA ITALY MAXIMUM CARD

Description

Pietro Micca enlisted as a soldier in the army of the Duchy of Savoy , he is remembered for the episode of heroism in which he lost his life
when Turin was besieged for four months by the French army in 1706. Thanks to Micca the town was saved by the so-called “war of mines” which was fought across a vast network of tunnels extending under and beyond the external defence works (fourteen kilometres on the whole).
